At Love Gaelic, our Dialogue Development Courses are designed to give learners the confidence to engage in real, everyday Gaelic conversations. Many students want speaking to be their priority, yet often lack opportunities to practice. These courses provide exactly that platform—helping you strengthen your speaking skills while building a secure foundation in grammar, pronunciation, and reading techniques (including emphasis and breathing breaks). Over the years, the delivery of these courses has become a cornerstone of Gaelic learning, ensuring that no matter your level, you can achieve a solid degree of fluency by applying your skills correctly at each stage. With this foundation in place, you’ll always have something to fall back on as you move up a level, without losing confidence in conversational settings.

Entry Requirements for supported and taught courses:
All students work with the same Gaelic dialect, as used by the teacher, throughout the course.

  • Post-Beginner:
Completion of Cùrsa Ro-ìre (Self-study) and taught Cùrsa Còmhraidh (Luchd-tòiseachaidh).
At this stage, you will have fully mastered key structures such as bi (“to be”), like, can, prefer, word inversion, and sentence construction.

  • Intermediate:
Mastery of regular and irregular verbs in past and future tenses, word inversion, and prepositional pronouns. New students must attend an interview and provide written evidence of 1.5 years of taught intermediate study (e.g. Cùrsa Inntrigidh), with near-fluent reading and conversational ability. Alternatively, progression is possible through successful completion of the Uibhist Intermediate Booster Course or Ùlpan 48 (Love Gaelic students only).

  • Advanced:
Learners must demonstrate full command of regular and irregular verbs across tenses, word inversion, and prepositional pronouns. Entry requires an interview with written proof of 1.5 years of taught advanced study (e.g. Cùrsa Adhartais), or evidence of successful completion of the Uibhist Advanced Booster Course.
