Leasachadh Sgilean Conaltraidh na Gàidhlig - Gaelic Communication Skills Development

Step into the heart of the Hebrides this Christmas and immerse yourself in the warmth of Scottish Gaelic culture. Spend a week surrounded by the wild beauty of North Uist, where every conversation, every song, and every story brings the language to life.​
​

Included:
Tuition, learning resources and transport for activities.

​Focus on meeting the community and using your Gaelic skills.

Excursions (weather & darkness dependent, indoor or outdoor, will be decided on the day)

Learning Gaelic songs, lighting the peat fire
Lasagna dinner on Saturday evening if you arrive the weekend before

Church and meet Gaelic speakers on Sunday morning if you arrive the weekend before
Refreshments, 
Lunch 

Transport to and from Lochmaddy ferry/Benbecula airport on arriving/leaving (only weekends) and transport to and from accommodation can be arranged if you stay in Shivinish (Grimsay)/Cnoc nan Uan (Tigharry) or Carinish only.

​Access (prior learning) requirements:
You have already mastered 

- sight reading aloud

​- you know your prepositional pronouns by heart

- rough translation of Gaelic short texts without the help of dictionaries & able to paraphrase in English what it is about

- you can sustain a conversation for at least 8 minutes using: to be, can, like, prefer, auxiliary verbs may & need, regular/irregular verbs in past/future tense

- have an interest in literature and island history

You are in the process of learning:

- listening and transcription of native speaker interviews

- genitive formation & conditional/passive verb tenses

Love Gaelic programmes are designed and delivered exclusively by Ann Desseyn.
Our responsibility and quality assurance apply only to teaching and activities delivered directly as part of a Love Gaelic programme.

​Learning or tuition undertaken independently with other teachers falls outside the scope of Love Gaelic programmes.
